A good show that made an excellent case for our Creator. It’s a sad day when we have to make a case for Christ…when the majority of the people in the world around us can’t see God in the beauty and complexity of nature. They reduce themselves to a Being without purpose. Justifying life itself to be empty and with no meaning at all. Sadly looking at a reflection in a mirror and ultimately concluding that life and relationships and thought and creativity and happiness and love and beauty and were never meant to be. Finding fulfillment in nothing, chasing after the wind, and convincing themselves of complete satisfaction with the circumstances that life has given them…<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Expelled Trailer A Movie by Ben Stein on Intelligent Design

Another Movie on Intelligent Design I watched this a few years back, and it is truly amazing. This can be watched online…and if you have the time I would highly recommend it. It’s about 60 minutes long, and focuses on irreducible complexity and the single cell organism.

A couple other videos of interest…

Short Film on Jihad It’s short…

Oprah’s Religion if you haven’t seen it, here it is

Anesthesia of Religious Freedom

As each hour passes our individual religious freedoms are slowly being sucked away into a very quiet, and often invisible vacuum. Other freedoms that are laid out in plain text in our Constitution, and freedom that is our God given right are being drained from the veins of our country. The framework of our society and what we’ve allowed it to become has slowly injected lies into our minds, blurring the vision between wrong and right. It is easy to see examples of this happen as each day passes, but in an effort to build evidence to it not being there we simply ignore it. Truth has been delicately boiled over the past few decades to the point of virtual non-existence. There is no “wrong and right”, just “wrong and to each his own”. Because of this any one individual or group claiming the existence of right, in essence truth, are not ignored but singled out as wrong. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

The old saying that “Everything is Relative…is an Absolute (Truth) in Itself” is more true today than ever. Life is not making sense these days. Things that are right are looked upon as wrong…things that are wrong are looked upon as right. We live in a backwards world of morality and are completely O.K. with it. This wave that was once so far off shore it could not be seen, now even in the darkness of night an outline of the tsunami can be clearly seen.

Example 1 The Bible

Example 2 Expression

Example 3 Prayer

These are just my observations, and quite honestly I feel inadequately informed of how bad the reality of this actually is. These thoughts just touch the surface and do nothing to change the tide of what is happening in the air around us. No solutions here, just faith…and a fraction of a little bit a hope.

The Amazing and The Ridiculous

I guess that would make all of these articles to linked here amazingly ridiculous? It helps to validate my existence and is therapy for my soul. It is a way for me to give sound to my thoughts, and be vocal about life and the way I’m learning it. It is the external beat of my heart. I’m sitting on top of the clouds right now trying once again to make sense of the thoughts floating around my head. An interesting light show is in mid-performance. I’m looking out the window of this jetliner that is taking me home and there is lightning that I see below. What an extraordinary sight! Flashes of light in the clouds below Screaming the existence of God, but ever so gently in my ear. Utterly beautiful to my eyes and breathtaking to my lungs. I am in complete awe of God. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

I was just reading on the immutability of God – He does not change. How He is omniscience – He knows everything instantly and effortlessly. Him being immutable and omniscience is a far cry from nature declaring His glory, but all three are equally amazing. With the immutability of God there is a clear contrast between His unchanging character and my forever changing character. Every waking hour my whole motivation is to remain mutable—to change into His likeness. While He remains unchanged, He is continually (through my willingness) helping to change me. His omniscience provides more of a clear contrast to my lack of knowledge. The more I think of how much I know, the more I come to realize that I know close to the sum of nothing. That’s a startling, but true thought... Even with knowing close to nothing, I have complete peace in the fact that at the very least I know the unchanging God who knows all things.

The Recipe: 2 parts Good, 3 parts Fun

So a long time ago I wrote that I would send out an all positive post. I guess I’ve been kind of burnt out trying to keep up with all of these crazy politicians. Over the past few weeks I’ve ran across some VERY interesting articles. Some have to do with politics, some don’t. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

The political scene is shaping up to be quite intriguing (surprised?). On the Republican side we have a candidate who has just as many views in line with the opposing party as he does with his own. On the Democratic side things are a bit messy. Obama’s pastor of 20 years has been right in the middle of it all—I’m sure you’ve all heard and read…and Hillary is by no means free from controversy. As it stands it looks as if Obama has the nomination in the bag (mathematically). There have been ruminations brewing regarding some of the super delegates switching sides from Obama to Clinton...and that is the only way she would be able to win. Stay tuned…

On to the fun stuff. Ever heard of using vegetable oil for fuel? Check out this video that shows a guy who runs his car off of it and gets up to 1,700 miles per tank!! Anyone out there have a car like this?

Smart Car, Smart Guy

Buy a biodiesel system – the system you can buy for your car (if it is powered by diesel)

Smart goggles – Never lose anything again!

Want to be happy? – Go to church! – Article on why prayer and church help in happiness. In light of that I wanted to pass along a few articles that touch on the State of our Nation in several different areas. By no means do these articles define the United States in each area, but just like a frog who is ever so slowly boiled not noticing the water getting hot, the following are signs that show what direction the waters of our Nation are flowing.

The State of Free Speech – Look what is happening in the U.K. and Canada…It’s slowly creeping in the U.S.

The State of Education – Transgender 2nd grader?

The State of Religion – St. Louis – Islamic prayer tower

The State of our Cities – Sin Cities

The State of our Politicians—and those who support them

The State of our Safety – Man caught trying to take box-cutter on airplane

In other news I found a positive article on the President. The Land Between Here and There is a story never told before, but nevertheless a story that in one way or another everyone knows. It is an adventure that all boys and girls would love to be a part of, and in many ways they are already living in it. In this land dreams come to life and life actually may be more real in dreams. There is a delightful mixture of mystery and wonder hidden in every chapter. I’m definitely no author, but it’s fun for me. I hope you enjoy…

It was a cold and dreary day as usual in the Province of Trucen, and one without calm. The winds were gusting about and back, and back and about. The winds often played this game, especially at this time of year. The colorless leaves that had fallen from the many strong Oaks of Trucen were swirling and swirling and swirling all around. At second glance, I guess there was some calm, due to the fact that nobody was out. Everybody was inside on this night. In fact Trucen seemed virtually lifeless, without any sort of a pulse. “This is a bit strange,” Kinsey thought to himself as he ran to his home in the middle of town as fast as his legs would allow him. He was so excited that he barely had time to put his thoughts together as related to the nothingness in town, and how it was the colorless leaves that were the only things giving life to the town that evening besides himself.

His excitement stemmed from his desire to get home to the library in his house and open the book that had been keeping his attention now for well over a year. How can anyone get excited about a book you might ask? Well this was no ordinary book!

What drew him to the book initially was that it had a wooden cover with a picture of tree carved into it. The carving of the tree actually protruded out from the cover, and he would run his hand over the image and imagine who it was exactly that had intricately designed the carving on the cover of this book. He also wondered about the tree as it looked more interesting than any tree he’d ever seen. It looked larger than life even on the cover of the book, although the book was larger than any normal book. As a matter of fact, the book barely fit from bottom to top on any shelf in the library. His interest intensified after he opened the book and found it had a riddle on every page. This book was full of riddles mostly in words and rarely in shapes. There were riddles in puzzles, interactive riddles, riddles in poems, riddles in questions, and sometimes in stories, all with meaning behind them of course, and all with a conclusion or a structured answer that brought the words, interaction, or pictures to life. Kinsey loved to solve riddles, and he loved this book because of it. If Kinsey found the riddles no meaning, though all did have meaning, then he would create an imaginary meaning for the story or riddle or poem or picture, before moving on. It was evident that the book was made by hand, and penned by unknown author. There were also carvings on the back cover of the book. These included the initials “IA”, the Roman numeral “VII”, and also what looked like the image of a seed. These also protruded from the cover of the book. On the first page of this book was the most important riddle of all. I guess there is clarity on the Republican side of the elections, unless of course Huckabee runs the table on the remaining available delegates. Is McCain really a republican?...and anyone know what is happening on the Democratic side?...we have one candidate who has the most liberal voting record of any Senator, then of course the other is a Clinton…and we all know who will wear the pants-suit in that White House. Did any of you get a chance to watch the Clinton Chronicles? If you haven’t yet, it would be a good idea…especially if she becomes the nominee. The first link below shows the remaining states and the dates of each of their respective primaries or caucuses. It also shows how many delegates each state has. Following that are several links providing a bundle of information.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

The remaining primary dates, delegates, and states

The Good

Ted Nugent on Gun Control – Awesome Interview – A 3 minute must see (from Armour)

The Bad

Vending Machines for…Marijuana?? – Good Old California

Universal Healthcare – In Canada – A Short video highlighting one reason that idea is bad (from Rita)

Universal Healthcare Proposal fails in California – Costs are just way too high

Learn from Canada and the UK – Progress of socialistic ideology will kill the U.S.—it already is

Where is Jihad happening around the world? – A better question might be “Where is Jihad not happening?”

The Ugly

Bill Clinton – Sleeping during Martin Luther Speech

I hope this helps to keep you all informed. And even more ridiculous—to have more faith in the unseen rather than what I do see. With deeper reflection I come to the conclusion that this is all I have—believing in the unseen that is—it is all that I have in order to be all that I am meant to be in Christ. It is the reason for my existence. I believe in an invisible God, and in transparent promises. An invisible God that I cannot deny exists, and transparent promises that continually are fulfilled. My life proves to be more effective the more I am willing to let go of what I see, and all that I know. My inability to have the kind of faith to believe more in the unseen, would give reason to the thought that maybe I shouldn’t have faith at all. How powerful would your life and influence be, if for the rest of it you believed more in the unseen, rather than what is seen? Think about that for a minute. Take it in, because even though it doesn’t sound like a serious question, in all actuality it is. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Let me for a moment try and put my thoughts on paper in a way that makes sense. And for a moment, I would ask you to try and understand these thoughts I’m putting on paper.

We are limited…very limited by our five physical senses—the senses of sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste. We also live in a physical body. This limits us as well. Every waking moment we continually prove to ourselves that all that there is—all that is reality, is only limited to what our physical bodies and our five senses come into contact with. Now we know that we are spirit beings. What spiritual senses do we have? There are things about us that we cannot see, that we cannot explain. For instance: Our character. We know that it is there, but will never be able to see it. Never be able to touch it. It’s not something tangible, not something that can be physically grasped. It’s floating around us, it is in us, and it is actually more of who we are than anyone will actually ever see. This intangible character is built by our actions, our thoughts, and our true emotions related to the things around us. So our physical bodies will pass away. We will be in our bodies for only a moment in time. The actions that we make with our physical body shape who we are in our spirit.

We can choose to die today to our physical bodies and the vices it attracts itself to, and start to mold our spiritual being into who God wants us to be for eternity. But the physical proves the spiritual irrelevant every hour of every day. It can be said with great confidence that we are actually more spiritual than physical, even though the physical is all we see. If we start to believe more in the spiritual and the unseen, rather than the physical and what is seen, we would be surprised at what happens in our life. It seems as if I always regress to my ideas though, the things I know are for sure, the things that are within my control. As humans it’s so easy to always default to what we see, rather than what we in faith should believe. Believe in God’s promises, believe in God’s plan, and believe in things that are impossible. If you believe in things that are impossible and see them come to fruition, were they really impossible to begin with? How many times has this happened in your life? Take note. Soon you will come to believe the things that are unseen have a much more profound and lasting effect on your life and those around you, than things that are seen. The righteous will live by faith. Why would we live any other way?

Meaningful Motion

How many things do I do that are just going through the motions in my walk with God? This is a legitimate question that should concern everyone who is a Christian. We are surrounded by, in many ways mechanical religion. We do things because they are part of the formula of following Christ. We go to church, we study the word, we pray, we hang out with other Christians, we feed the poor, we sing songs, we get motivated to do things right. What formula are you following? In all honesty you may not be living a formula. But by taking a close look at my life, I can tell you that I have to question my motives in all areas of it. Who’s approval am I seeking? The approval of men?..The approval of my piers?...of the influences I’m surrounded by? Do I want to be seen at Christian events to make sure that I am in good standing by the who’s who in my community? Do I read the word or pray in order to be able to be justified if any would ask how I’m doing in that area…not to mention the times I just happen to work that little fact into a conversation. What books am I reading, and why? What is my motivation for writing my thoughts down in this moment? Who’s glory am I seeking? What am I trying to prove, and who am I trying to prove it to? I guess the root of these questions lies in motive…and how often I question my motives. If something seems pure, seems true, seems right, gives the perception of strong faith, and proves that I am a follower of Christ by my actions, why would I need to ever question my motives? We are human, we are sinful, even with all of our good deeds. We are sneaky little creatures, us humans. We have the acute ability to deceive even ourselves. That fact alone is evidence enough for us to constantly question the motives of our heart. If we don’t, we put at risk the path that we are truly on: Our Path or God’s. If our good deeds do not have pure motives, if they are seeking the glory of men over the glory of our Creator, then simply put, we are trying to fit God into our plan rather than following His plan for our life. I know that this something we’ve all heard before, but really digest these thoughts and start to implement change if need be…

Rainy Mondays & Have you ever heard of the Clinton Chronicles? I had heard of them before, but it wasn’t until recently that I was able to watch them. My friend Jack turned my attention towards them, and they are quite alluring. I would encourage everyone who has a curiosity for politics to watch them. I’ve created a link for the first of eleven videos. It is called SB 777 and was passed in 2007. In the past the bill had been presented and vetoed on multiple occasions. In September of 2007 the “conservative” governor of California signed it into action.

Details:

The terms “Mom & Dad, Husband & Wife” banned from California public school

Public School textbooks will have to positively portray the homosexual (and alternative) lifestyles. The long term affect will be more than just California. This is because California has the largest education system in the nation, and other states will feel pressure to comply with the laws California has. Otherwise, publishers will have to create California specific textbooks. There are plenty of other states that will follow California’s lead with no pressure at all. The door has been opened.

Students that are male, but think they are female—can use the girls restroom or run for homecoming queen…and the opposite of this is true.

This is just another example of how our society is slowly blurring the boundaries of morality and truth. Quite frankly, it makes me sick to my stomach. For further research on this click the following links.

Great Article on SB 777 – How the law affects you

The Legal Lingo – What does it actually say?

Other California Anti-Family laws

Below are a few other areas of interest for people that live in California. There are links under each issue that have information on each of the title areas. I have to give a disclaimer that I am no expert in any of the areas below. Mostly these are just things I’ve heard about California, so I wanted to research them out myself. Maybe I have an unjustified dislike for the state, I don’t know. I thought it would be fun to follow how close the polls are today to each political nomination. I’ve given links to the current RCP average for the national polls and Iowa (which is the first caucus). We should know who the nominations are by February 5th when about 25 states have their primaries…these states include Oklahoma and California. The outcome of all the primaries and caucuses prior to February 5th, will definitely have an influence on voters decisions moving forward. This is because the current nominees will either gain momentum, or bow out gracefully (or not). Anyways, I thought this would interest most of you.

National Polls – January 2nd, 2008

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national-primary.html

Iowa Polls – January 2nd, 2008

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/ia/iowa_republican_caucus-207.html

Global Warming?...

December 27th, 2007

As many of you know there is a documentary out created by Al Gore supporting the theory of global warming. I don’t know how many of you saw it, but I have not yet. Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed many articles refuting the idea of global warming, and I’ve attached one for your review. There is also a link to a documentary refuting the idea of global warming. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

I think it would be great to watch both of the documentaries back to back. Truth can really be twisted in documentaries, and I have a feeling that this is the case in ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. I remember watching Fahrenheit 911, then immediately watching Fahrenhype 911 which refuted the former point by point. In contrast to all of the controversy that there has been related to the war in Iraq, it is a bit surprising to me. In researching it though, it most likely is the biggest issue we face. That is, securing our borders. In regards to Iraq, things are going surprisingly well there right now. Here is an article about that – it is a bit wordy, but if you start in paragraph 7 it gives good information on a few things happening over there.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/tim_hames/article3059926.ece

http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2007/12/our-view-on-war.html (Another great article on what is happening in Iraq)

On Illegal Immigration – Last week I watched a documentary called ‘Border’. It really gave great insight into what is happening along our southern border, and why we really need to be aware of the ramifications of illegal immigration. I would recommend watching it if you get a chance. It’s a little funny that I just moved from what some would call a “Sanctuary City” for illegal immigrants, to a state that has the most strict regulations on the issue. Anyway, here is the link to the movie.

http://www.bordermovie.com/

All republican nominees have similar views on immigration. Most are not in support of amnesty which is great (my opinion), but some don’t mention their viewpoint in regards to this on their website. All are in support of securing our borders by building a fence. Some of their records are not indicative of what they say their views are now, and this is no surprise when talking of politicians. In any case I’ve given a link to each of the nominees web pages that have their specific plan for immigration.

Rudy Guliani - http://www.joinrudy2008.com/commitment/indepth/3

Fred Thompson - http://www.fred08.com/virtual/Immigration.aspx

Mike Huckabee - http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_id=26

Mitt Romney - http://www.mittromney.com/Issues/immigration

Ron Paul - http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/border-security-and-immigration-reform/

Hillary Clinton - http://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/immigration/

Barack Obama - http://www.barackobama.com/issues/immigration_and_the_border/

Blessings.

Politics 2008

December 13, 2007

In light of the upcoming nomination for president starting in the Iowa caucus on January 3rd, I thought it would be good to occasionally pass on information that I’ve found helpful related to the nominees. Included will be video clips, articles, polling data, and websites. Hopefully this will bring new information to light, and help educate us related to each candidate. Also, if any of you have information you would like me to pass on to my distribution list, just let me know. I know that this information could be useless or already known, but I thought it would be good to pass along anyway. If you would like to know how the primary elections/caucuses work click on the link below. It explains how they start on January 3rd in Iowa, and most likely the nomination will be decided on super Tuesday which is February 5th when 24 states are decided. The presidential election is on November 4th , 2008. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/path.presidency/

National Polls as of today…

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national-primary.html

Huckabee is slowly gaining on Guliani in the republican national polls, but I recently ran across an interesting article related to the democrats view of Huckabee…

http://drudgereport.com/flashhu.htm

There will be more information to follow.
